Cavin Barrel Face

Cavin Barrel Face

The faces of the barrels often indicate the cooperage (the barrel manufacturer). This one was made by Cavin, and is of their Aphrodite line. It was made in 2014 using deep expression stoking. The oak comes from the forest of Jupilles in France. It’s number 39/200 in this batch. The oak was air dried for 48 months before being made into this barrel. If you look closely at the barrel to the bottom right, you can see a sticker that indicates what wine is in that particular barrel. It’s a 2014 (year of harvest) Cab. I believe the other codes indicate the particular grape clone, but I could be makign that up.
