Morning views of Half Moon Cay from our verandah on day 2.
Half Moon Cay (HAL’s private island) was our first port of call. My parents stayed on board (as they almost always prefer to do), while we hit the beach for a few hours. I was so proud of myself for setting alarms to reapply sunscreen so we didn’t burn!
These guys (video below) were schooling all around us in the shallow waters. Apparently, someone had been feeding them dog biscuits.

Once back on board and showered for dinner, TG and I attended one of the EFFY raffles and I won! It wasn’t a pair of diamond earrings like TG did on our last cruise with my parents, but a prize is a prize. This one was a seed bead bracelet from Africa and a semi-precious pendant like I have so many of from my mom and grandmother from past cruises.
After dinner in the buffet, we went to the show and TG had their moments of fame at the comedy show. Alycia Cooper had a bit about the music that would bring various ethnic groups out of a coma. She’d call up a rep of each group and tell them to dance if the song would wake up a comatose person of their heritage: for example, a Bollywood tune for Indians and something Latin for Hispanics (Alycia’s word, not mine). When it was white people’s turn, TG whispered to Hubs that they bet it’d be Sweet Caroline. Sure enough, not only did TG guess correctly, but they ended up repping our “race.”
For someone who used to have severe stage fright, I’d say they’ve come out of their shell. Well, actually, my mom said that – and she’s so right!
