NOLA Adventures Part 1

New luggage tags... ready to travel through all of time and space; everywhere and anywhere.

As promised, here is the first installment of the New Orleans adventure. Airport… blah blah blah. Normal metal detector because we had a kid with us. Airplane… blah blah blah. Arrival… ahhh, humidity. Sort of. It was actually rather chilly by NOLA standards 73, but a heck of a lot better than at home!

We arrived at our hotel to find they’d begun a Friday night crawfish boil. How’s that for checking one off the list right away?! We got settled into our room, checked out our awesome balcony …

… and headed down to the courtyard to try something new (a big theme for this trip).

After we cleaned up (mudbugs are messy suckers), we hung out and enjoyed the courtyard for a while. There was a lovely fountain.

Next, we did a little exploring…

As we spotted this as we walked through the French Quarter, we were reminded of how troubled much of the population is.

The Girl loved wandering the urban streets of the French Quarter. It's so much more fun and interesting than our suburban home town. Now, if we could just stop her from swinging on all the poles!

Then we headed to Oceana Grill for dinner. We dined al fresco, even under a bit of drizzle. I had their signature redfish, I forget what Hubs had, and The Girl had some chicken fingers. It wasn’t memorable enough to bother taking a pic, so I didn’t. But, I watched a cockroach crawl out of a sewer grate in the courtyard. THAT was snap-worthy.

Being that we were on vacation, and we were outside, and it did come from underground (not the kitchen), I chose to go with the fact that we were eating in the bug’s house, and not let it bother me. Wine may or may not have helped this attitude along. Because, really, what doesn’t wine help?

Coming soon … NOLA Day 2
