Heading Home

We are under quarantine, as The Girl and I are suffering from some sort of bug that has graced us with coughing and fever. I will say, a part of me is immensely thankful that she has the same symptoms I do (though her fever is higher), because the last time I felt like this, it was cancer. I’m soft of thrilled to have a run-of-the-mill virus, and know that’s all it is. Though, I think it goes without saying (but I’ll say it anyway) I’d much rather be relaxing on a warm beach somewhere. So, although the beach posts are finished, I present to you the final installment of the cruise journal…

Cruise 1-17-16

I woke up at 5:30 this morning – a half hour before the alarm – and couldn’t fall back asleep. Grumble grumble. I thoroughly enjoyed my last bacon fest of a breakfast from the buffet. After that, they made an announcement that we’d be about 2 hours delayed, which turned out to be only one hour. Either way was ok, since our flight doesn’t leave Houston until 6:20 pm. We ended up disembarking around 11:30. The Captain’s Circle Host, Colin, was announcing the groups as each was to leave the ship. He made sure to make one more announcement for Meredith’s birthday, getting the whole room to applaud her. She acted embarassed, but she totally ate it up.

I kept meaning to capture this all week… I finally remembered to go do it before we disembarked:

**Update – time is irrelevant (and not noted)**

Now, we are at the airport, having consumed a meh lunch at Chili’s Too. We will scope out some sandwiches to take with us on the plane for dinner. Mmmmm (not)…. airport food. I guess it’s better than airplane food.

It’s currently 4 degrees at home, with a wind chill expected to range from 25 to 30 below. We are not amused. I could have easily done back to back cruises, skipping the frigid cold all together. Perhaps when Hubs retires, that can be our winter M.O.

**Update 9:34 pm**

We're back. I think The Girl is in shock over the freezing cold weather. I don't blame her one bit, but reality has called, and we have no choice but to answer.

I’m already dreaming about the next time we cruise.

Now, if you happen to scroll back up, you might notice I’ve done some housekeeping on the right-hand sidebar. Notably, I’ve added a Flickr slideshow and a list of A Few of my Favorite Things. Some are mommy-blogs, some are photog blogs, some are combos of that, and some just make me laugh.

Coming up next… back to our regularly scheduled programming.
