A Bisel Dis... A Bisel Dat

Relatively C-Free Weekend – April 18, 2015

Not much going on, cancer-wise this weekend, other than the fact that I went for acupuncture today. My acupuncturist is great. His name is Jason Bussell, and I’ve known him since high school. We talked about how cycle 1 went (great), and how to proceed with my acupuncture treatments going forward. If you recall, on Thursday, I felt like I was in a fog. Turns out it was for two reasons. First, I wasn’t as good about hydrating that day. Once I stepped that up, I felt somewhat better. But, the big factor was Tuesday’s Neulasta shot. It’s a subcutaneous injection that boosts my white blood cell count (boosting my immune system that’s knocked down by the chemo). It has some lovely side effects that can make me feel fluish. I had known it could cause bone pain (which I didn’t get), but I didn’t know about the flu-like feeling until I talked to the nurse about it on Thursday. Now, I know for next time. And, Jason and I have scheduled acupuncture for right before I get that shot in the hopes that it’ll mitigate those symptoms.

And that’s it for now. Got questions? Go ahead and ask in the comments.
