Lasagna and Other Indoor Sports

Lasagna and Other Indoor Sports

I realize I haven’t posted in a while. I have the usual excuses… been busy with the girl, summer vacations, and all sorts of nonsense. As such, I haven’t been doing anything new in the kitchen. In fact, I’ve been trying to do as little as possible in the kitchen. But, now that we’re into fall, I’m cooking again. Tonight, I’m attempting my very first lasagna.

Yes, I know, I know. How is it I’ve never made lasagna before?  I have no idea. It seems rather simple. I looked up one recipe in my cookbook that had me making my own meat sauce (I did omit the carrots). For the cheese and assembly, I followed the directions on the pasta box. I can’t say it all went as planned. The sauce didn’t seem wet enough (had to pull out an emergency jar of marinara plus some water). The pan wasn’t deep enough. I ended up with too much ricotta mixture and not enough mozzarella.

But, how did it taste? Really good, but too salty. I definitely have some tweaks to make. I’m hoping to get it right in the next round. And when I do, you’ll get the deets.

In other news, I’m still doing my Project365 (check out my photostream, upper right of this page), though I’m quite anxious for it to be over. I still have a passion for taking photos, but the obligation of every day is wearing on me. I’ve been taking many more photos with my iPhone simply for the convenience of being able to just get it done. With only 102 days left, I certainly can’t quit now.

Stay tuned for Lasagna Part II, when I have a recipe worthy of sharing.
