Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays!

Now, before you get your panties in a bunch (because I’m sure you’re reading this, Mr. (T)rump, remember, we celebrate lots around here in December/January. We’ve got Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s, plus several birthdays (including my own), so yes, I mean HOLIDAYS, plural.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to share a retrospective of holiday cards past. This is our 10th season with The Girl and thus, our 10th year of photo cards.

For the first 3 years, we did your typical pre-laid out, photo cards (click to embiggen):

In 2010, The Girl got the most awesome hat from her cousin Ryan, and I was inspired to start a new tradition of themed cards starting in 2011.

In 2013, we took a break from themes to do a more traditional, upscale card, as I was trying to launch a portrait photography business.

The year of me over-zealously “airbrushing” faces.

As much as I love taking photos, I’m just not cut out for entrepreneurship. So we have gone back to themed cards.

This year’s card caused a few kerfluffles. First, I had some errors that I didn’t notice until I’d printed. Can you spot them?

Because I knew some would see my gaffes, I added a warning sticker to the envelopes before mailing.

While many laughed, some recipients (mainly the over-60 crowd) were confused and a bit aghast at the use of a particular word on a *Christmas* card (though no where does the card mention any specific holiday). And I’m not quite sure they got the 80s-esque references. Special thanks to Awkward Family Photos.

Whether you gave pause or LOL’d at our card this year, here’s what it should have looked like (not too different, but I feel much better posting the corrected version.

Front/Back. Season’s Greetings everyone!
